The Health Informatics position will support the Wyandotte County Health Department and its six operational divisions. The position will work closely with the Unified Government's Knowledge Department, which includes IT, Project Management, GIS analysis, and data analytics.
The Informaticist will play a key role in a number of major initiatives underway, including implementing a regional data sharing platform, national accreditation, applying the Foundational Public Health Services Model, and implementing the first Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The social determinants of health are increasingly a focus of the Health Department as we look to improve health through our work in housing, violence prevention, employment, food systems, and trauma. Our staff are eager to find the right person who has the technical abilities to leverage data as well as the passion to serve and a determination to change the social context and health disparities facing our residents.
To meet these new opportunities, we need a creative, collaborative Health Informaticist to help implement a new Electronic Medical Record that will support our clinical teams and provide population-level information. The Informaticist will help build internal capacities for using data across divisions including chronic disease, environmental health, community health, and maternal child health. They will provide data support to our community health planning efforts and work closely with our mapping and technology teams.
