This position is the primary point person for maintaining functionality and improving the user experience of web-based database applications. The developer will be involved in some conversion of  access applications to web apps, as well as designing new ones. 

The developer joins a small (but mighty!) Data Services team, which works closely to increase meaningful use of data at Breaking Ground. The team consists of the director of data services, two data analysts, and a coordinator who works on shared platforms and provides some support for maintaining the web apps.

 | Serve as internal point person for database related issues and questions
 | Monitor web applications and Access databases including troubleshooting and end user support
 | Develop new web-based applications
 | Oversee table and field configuration, data system changes, API implementations
 | Assist data team with query optimization 
 | Manage data conversion portion of data modernization
 | Run regular reports of data to check for quality
 | Contributes to data services efforts and initiatives
 | Work with external database consultants when needed

Skills and responsibilities

This position requires a true team-oriented, self-starter, someone who is comfortable working autonomously (they are the only developer on the team!). The Data Services team uses a Human Centered Design process to working collaboratively across departments and field staff. We are looking for someone who is  a problem solver, comfortable working in under-resourced settings, with diversity of tasks; motivated by mission-driven work

Minimum qualifications

Proficiency in C# (for web applications), JavaScript (for frontend), Python, SQL, SQL Server, ASP.NET MVC Web Framework, Git Version Control required

** Visual Basic for Applications a plus (for older access applications)
