World Resources Institute (WRI) is an independent, nonprofit global research organization that turns big ideas into action at the nexus of environment, economic opportunity and human well-being. We are working to address seven critical challenges that the world must overcome this decade in order to secure a sustainable future for people and the planet: climate change, energy, food, forests, water, sustainable cities, and the ocean.

We are passionate. We value our diversity of interests, skills and backgrounds. We have a flexible work environment. And we share a common goal to catalyze change that will improve the lives of people. Our shared ideals are at the core of our approach. They include: integrity, innovation, urgency, independence and respect.

The foundation of our work is delivering high-quality research, data, maps and analysis to solve the world’s greatest environment and international development challenges, and improve people’s lives. We work with leaders in government, business and civil society to drive ambitious action and create change on the ground. Equally important, we bring together partners to develop breakthrough ideas and scale-up solutions for far-reaching, enduring impact.

We have been growing rapidly: our staff has doubled in size over the past 5 years and our operating budget is now $150 million. Founded in 1982, WRI has a global staff of 1,000+ people with work spanning 60 countries. We have offices in Africa, Brazil, China, Europe, India, Indonesia, Mexico and the United States as well as a growing presence in other countries and regions.

WRI is committed to advancing gender and social equity for human well-being in our mission and applies this principle to our organizational and programmatic practices.

WRI is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

The Global Restoration Initiative aims to catalyze a movement to restore vitality to degraded lands. These degraded lands can be restored into healthy mosaics of sustainable agriculture, agroforestry landscapes (or mixed-forest agriculture), and restored forest ecosystems generating economic, ecological, and social benefits to people and planet.
Our strategy to accelerate restoration action has three components:
 1. Knowledge: quantify benefits and conduct analyses that frames conversations on the progress of restoration around the globe. We aim to be the source of high-quality data, analyses and stories on forest and landscape restoration.
 2. Capacity: build restoration entrepreneurs’ skills through the Lands Accelerator program and address gaps in policy incentives that impede large scale restoration. We support early adopters (e.g. businesses, policy makers, government agencies) to achieve more, faster through immersive accelerators and mentorship.
 3. Connection: connect people and create value through regional networks, finance and peer-to-peer learning. The Initiative 20x20 and AFR100 are country-led regional efforts that bring together high-level ministers, civil society organizations, experts and investors with one vision: bring millions of hectares of deforested and degraded landscapes into restoration. TerraMatch is a platform that connects people who grow trees with funders. And, peer-to-peer learning unites 10 landscapes from WRI Brasil, WRI Mexico, WRI India, WRI Indonesia, and WRI Africa to exchange on integrated landscape management.

In this role, you will serve as the primary lead for day-to-day operations of the platform and assist the TerraMatch manager in the continued development of new tools and features to improve effectiveness and user engagement. Responsibilities will include vetting user applications and project submissions, replying to user feedback, contributing to project strategies and roadmaps, liaising with WRI colleagues and external partners to ensure success of the TerraMatch platform and communicating bugs and other feedback requests to the TerraMatch development firm. You will also work closely with the TerraMatch manager to continuously improve the platform, leading day-to-day interactions with our chosen development firm, overseeing sprints, and conducting user acceptance testing. This is an opportunity to apply product management and customer development skills in a rapidly evolving sector that will play a major role in addressing the global climate crisis and local land use challenges.
