Summary of Work

NDIT is seeking an experienced Digital Designer will be the expert at applying modern user experience, visual, and interaction design principles to websites to transform them to offer world-class citizen-centered, mobile-first experience. Individual should be an independent self-starter who is experienced in consulting and communicating with clients to evoke thoughtful exploration of user tasks and challenges to create design concepts.

Duties and Tasks

•Develop user experience visual style guide to support both modern UX patterns and practices as well as represent the new North Dakota brand.
•Develop wireframes, mockups for templates for content, search, form and transactional pages for North Dakota government websites. 
•Ensure design elements are accessible for all North Dakota citizens measured against accessibility standards.
•Partner with digital content strategy and search engine optimization team members to support holistic modern digital design.
•Consult with North Dakota state agencies to improve agency websites
•Apply data gathered from usability testing, user research and web analytics to suggest and revise designs. Preference to candidates who have experience in conducting their own research using usability tools such as Usability Hub, Usertesting.com and Optimal Workshop.
•Participate in or conduct informational workshops to gather user feedback, requirements and plan new features.

Programmer Analyst II - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Social Science, Computer Information Systems, Web or Graphic Design or related field and one year of current and progressive experience involving analysis, design, development, testing for websites/applications.   An Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, and three years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor’s degree and one year of experience requirement.

Note:  The Department will attempt to fill this position at the Programmer Analyst II level if unable to find candidates who meet the above outlined minimum qualifications; the hiring authority reserves the right to under fill this position as Programmer Analyst I or Programmer. NDIT will train the successful candidate in any areas of unfamiliarity. 

Programmer Analyst I - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, (e.g., Social Science, Web or Graphic Design or related field). An Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, and two years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor’s degree. Starting salary will be commensurate with the level at which the position is filled and candidate’s qualifications.
