The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the content migration efforts and product feature development of the State of North Dakota public-facing websites and will build a digital experience that is accessible, easy to navigate and scalable for the State and its constituents. As a change agent, you will shape and cultivate a results-oriented, multi-disciplined and collaborative digital culture across the disciplines of content creation and management and delivers measurable value and impact. The Web Content Strategist will manage and leverage our Drupal-based platform, developing web and social content strategies, and implement best practices around civic storytelling.

Skills and responsibilities

Duties and Tasks  

•Plan, write, and improve navigational labels, UX content, web page content, and training materials, according to content standards and guidelines
•Create new resident-centric content standards as needed and ensure they are applied effectively in a user-centered design framework
•Train collaborators (e.g., State agencies, vendors, and team members) on content standards, plain language, and web writing best practices
•Plan and facilitate co-writing and information architecture workshops with users and stakeholders
•Work openly and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to effectively implement content recommendations
•Develop and manage project timelines 
•Problem-solve through ambiguity and when challenges arise.

Minimum Qualifications  

Programmer Analyst II - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, Web or Graphic Design or related field and one year of current and progressive experience involving analysis, design, development, testing for websites/applications.  Must also include experience in HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).  An Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, and three years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor’s degree and one year of experience requirement.

Note:  The Department will attempt to fill this position at the Programmer Analyst II level if unable to find candidates who meet the above outlined minimum qualifications; the hiring authority reserves the right to under fill this position as Programmer Analyst I or Programmer. NDIT will train the successful candidate in any areas of unfamiliarity.
