The Public Information Officer is responsible for managing the external communications and media relations for NDIT. The PIO leads the communications distributions and directs the daily workflow of the public information communications area and any related projects. This position is integral to NDIT marketing and branding experience. Successful applicant must be a visionary and an avid evangelist in regards to technology communications.
Skills and responsibilities
Duties and Tasks
•Oversee communications distributions and direct the daily workflow of the public information communications area, which may include directing any related projects.
•Oversees external, public-facing communication and branding in various online and print platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and industry magazines.
•Collaborates with executive leadership and/or other stakeholders to develop a public information strategy and guidelines for NDIT.
•Serve as editor for others to ensure a consistent message across all media channels
•Provide outreach, communications development, organize press releases & conferences, coordinate release of news articles, feature stories and media presentations to promote NDIT.
•Serve as the main point of contact as agency liaison to news media outlets.
•Serve as a key resource and collaborate on special projects where external communications and media relations are required. Examples such as: Dakota Strike Team, Girl Scouts National Cyber event held locally, or cyber security partnership with Palo Alto.
•Ability to effectively interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels.
•Ability to sell ideas or visions. Influence and advise stakeholders at all levels and positions regarding communications.
•Ability to build relationships with all stakeholders.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, public relations, or marketing and two years of related professional work experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in another field related to the position’s program responsibility area and four years of professional work experience related to the communication duties described in this announcement.
