This is an exciting opportunity in the Information Technology Infrastructure service area. The Enterprise Information Technology Engineer (EITE) I/II will be a lead engineer in the Infrastructure and Customer Support team. The ideal candidate must have technical skills and experience to support business systems including IT Infrastructure (network, servers, desktops, and mobile devices). As an EITE, you will need to have strong technical leadership skills, be able to work well with both technical and non-technical staff, and have excellent communication skills.  

The Information Technology Department is searching for an EITE I/II within the IT Infrastructure and Operations Division. This position is a temporary, benefitted position, with a standard 40 hours per week with an end date of June 30, 2020.

Skills and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of system administration activities ranging from systems design, to implementation, to integration, including, hardware, software, budgeting, and support.
  • Support department business systems, network and servers, Microsoft SQL databases, Windows endpoint devices, POS systems, Print/MFD devices, mobile device management, Biometric clocks, etc.

    The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the EITE I and EITE II classifications shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

Education:
  • EITE I: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business and Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • EITE II: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business and Public Administration, or a closely related field. 

Experience:
  • EITE I: three (3) years of increasingly progressive experience equivalent to performing technical work of complex difficulty to provide desktop, data security, application and system administration, and server or network administration or software applications to support end users, electronic business systems/solutions, and software applications for high availability and uptime.
  • EITE II: four (4) years of increasingly progressive experience equivalent to performing technical work of complex difficulty to provide desktop, data security, applications and system administration, and server or network administration or software applications to support end users, electronic business systems/solutions, and software applications for high availability and uptime.

Acceptable Substitutions: Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for up to       two (2) years of the education requirement

License or Certificates: 
  • EITE I: Possession of an industry certification that demonstrates expertise in information technology field, such as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certificate for Windows Server Enterprise, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Network Associate (CCNA) certification, Brocade Professional IP Administrator (BPIPA) certification, OR an equivalent professional, industry recognized certification acceptable to the City. 
  • EITE II: Possession and maintenance of a current (non-expired) industry certification that demonstrates expertise in the relevant information technology field, such as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certificate for Windows Server Enterprise, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Network Associate (CCNA) certification, Brocade Professional IP Administrator (BPIPA) certification, OR an equivalent professional, industry recognized certification acceptable to the City.

Preferred qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies, as demonstrated in past and current employment history. Desirable competencies for this position include:

Job Expertise – 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and experience with, implementing, supporting and troubleshooting at least two of the following technologies in an enterprise infrastructure: 
    • Windows Server 2008/2012 
    • R2VM Infrastructure (VMware or Hyper-V) 
    • Windows 10 workstations
    • MDM (Mobile Device Management)
  • Experience supporting network switches and routers, and troubleshooting network connectivity including Wi-Fi access points. 
  • Experience implementing and managing Microsoft Windows 2008/2012/2016 servers. 
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting client devices including Point of Sale devices, desktops, laptops, and tablets.
  • Experience installing and supporting business systems including  Microsoft SQL database. Experience managing mobile devices using MDM
  • Powershell scripting and automation is desired.
  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing system logs, identifying system issues, applying remediation, and performing system preventative maintenance. 
  • Experience creating and updating technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Able to communicate technical issues with system support vendors
