Medicare Coverage Tools, a program under CMS, is focused on improving the experience of how Medicare beneficiaries find, select, and enrol in coverage. We are focused on replacing and improving a current tool built over a decade ago, making it more user-friendly, modern, secure, and faster.

Ad Hoc is seeking a Back-End Software Engineer.

We’re looking for a driven and organized Back-end Engineer to help deliver digital services for the American people. As an Ad Hoc Back-end Engineer, you will:

  • Use Node.js, Ruby, Go or other programming languages to build scalable back-end services that gracefully integrate with legacy systems
  • Build APIs that support both the digital services we deliver as well as third-party usage
  • Use unit and integration testing to ensure systems meet business needs
  • Ship software that impacts the lives of millions of Americans

Our Federal contracts require that you must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for employment.

  • 2+ years of experience developing consumer-facing web applications, services, and APIs
  • Programming in a major open source language, such as Ruby, Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Understanding of the fundamental technologies of the web: HTTP, SSL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON
  • Proficient spelling, grammar, and communication skills.
  • Must pass a background check and provide references.

  • Strong node.js experience
  • Experience and understanding of one or more different agile methodologies, including Scrum, XP, or SAFe.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, in particular, EC2, S3, and RDS
