Upsolve is a Y Combinator-funded tech nonprofit that helps low-income families file for bankruptcy for free. You can think of us as TurboTax for bankruptcy. We help families on the verge of hunger, poverty, and homelessness get back on their feet after they face medical bills, layoffs, and predatory loans. In 2018, we won the New York Times Good Tech Award.

We're a 5-person team, based in Brooklyn NY.

We're funded by world class investors, entrepreneurs, and foundations. They include Eric Schmidt, Vinod Khosla, Chris Sacca, the Hewlett Foundation, and the Robin Hood Foundation.

1. Winner of Fast Company's 2019 World Changing Ideas in Social Justice.
2. 2018 Good Tech Award from the New York Times.
3. Top Y Combinator Startup in W19, named by Tech Crunch.

You will be the second founding engineer to join team, so you should expect to wear many hats. One week you may help with SEO-based growth and the next week you may be creating a natural language processing tool that processes court notices. To thrive in this position, you will need to be comfortable as a generalist driving your own direction and learning. You will have to choose each day when to ship quickly and when to raise the standard of the code base. You will have to watch, understand, and solve for the problems that our team mates and users hit.
